Angry ball joints replaced

can anyone tell me how do u know when its time for new ball joints. i just put new tires on my truck and they said my ball joints were loose. and my tie rods on the left side are bad! someone explain to me whats going on because im spending a lot of money on this 99 durango of mine

to check ball joints jack the car up and try to move the tire up by prying it up with a broom stick or some piping. if there is play bj are bad.

On an elven year old truck, yeah, they need replacing.

Do it yourself, it's not hard.

Yea as mentioned it isn't hard to do but on the lower (if I remember right) you'll need a ball joint press tool to pop off and on. 30 minute job to do both on one side. Tie Rods I am not to sure on.

That's right.
On the tie rods, just make sure you get a rough measurment of the originals before putting the new ones on. There is a tool you can rent to pop the tie rod end out of the knucle. This is easier than the ball joint.

Upper is easy, lower needs a press and is a PITA!
