Question ABS problem?

This problem has been going on for quite a while, but finally I figured I better fix it.
When I am driving, even at slow speeds, and I press the brakes at medium pressure the ABS kick in. I know that if I press the brakes hard they are supposed to kick in, but if I press them even at a slow speed they kick in. It almost feels like it is too sensitive. When this occures, I dont feel the ABS doing the bumpy feeling in the brake pedal like in my other car, but it just makes that weird sound of the ABS. I am hoping it may be just a sensor or something, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

FYI 1999 DODGE DURANGO 4WD 5.9 V8

try the rear wheel speed sensor (on the top of the rear differential), it controls the rear wheel abs.

also, it sounds like you only have rear wheel abs, double check your VIN at a dodge dealership (should be free) to make sure. if you have 4 wheel abs then something else is wrong with the system too

Welcome to DF
First thing i would do,is pull the codes from the ABS module and post.Could be a bad sensor, but could be an open circuit.

Could also be the ABS module going out.

When was the last time you changed your brake fluid?

you need a scan tool in order to pull codes for the abs module, most shops should be able to do it, im not sure if autozone ect would have the stuff to do it for you

wouldnt the check engine light or abs light be on if it was going to pull a code? If so, is it possible to pull the codes any other way, like the on off, on off, on off trick?

Also is when the abs kicks in and you can here the buzz sound like a pump, does the brake pedal vibrate like on most cars, or are these trucks different?

Cylcing the key will only give stored engine codes, You will need a scanner to scan the ABS module or any other modules.Once you have the codes, then post them. This way all of us can help you.
