Default transmission

my tranny just went out and im going to get a new one. im doing alot of mods to my d and im going over to superduty axles. since the full sized dodges have the driver side drop will the tranny fit in my d.. i have a 99 with the 5.2

If you take it from a 5.2L ram about the same year then yes. It should be a 44RE transmission. Make sure you replace it with a 4X4 version if yours is a 4X4.

well i called a million an a half places looking for a 44re from a fullsized 1500 and none had it they have a 46re... would that be the tranny i need????

i believe the 44 and 46 are interchangeable, but dont hold me to it, get in touch with Master Tech (another user on here) he can check to confirm if it will work

I have some questions.Did you have a 4x4 transfer box on the end of the transmission? And can you post a picture of the transmission oil pan? I can tell what transmission you have by the shape of the oil pan.

Yes they are interchangeable however the PCM would need to be flashed. The issues would be that the 46RE and the 44RE would be on different PCM's so I would be the one to tell you it wont work.

That transmission is a 46RE transmission. Not a 42/44RE transmission.

that transmission also looks like it is need of some love . . . (i assume thats why you are replacing it)
