Default Buying parts on Ebay ?

Hi there ...
I was thinking what you guys think of buying parts on Ebay? I was looking at a wheel bearing for my Durago and my local Autozone wants $115 for it, but when I searched for it on ebay I found it for just about half the price new from a auto part supplier. It's new, not re-manufactured. What do you guys think? Have you done this before and had good luck?

What's the seller's rating? The higher it is the better rep they need to maintain so the products should be good and legit if they have a high rating, i.e. 98% or higher. Pessonally, I buy from ebay from known sellers that I have dealt with but for parts like the D? I'd go with local or established brick and mortar places like rock auto, lmc, autozone and others who may be mentioned on this forum. That way if anything goes wrong, I can bring the part back for replacement the same day without waiting for an ra number and waiting for the part to be reshipped. JMHO.

If there is a 1-800 # I'd call rather than do business on ebay personally. Not sure what your engine is but for a 4.7L it is 19.99 to 56.99 on partstrain - http://www.partstrain.com/store/?Ntt...N=0&src=search So around the same price as ebay I bet? Only thing on this is you'll need to press out and press in the bearings or take it to a shop.

You have to make sure you don't have front wheel ABS sensors for the cheaper version of the wheel bearing. There is 1 with and 1 without, and the 1 with is about $220 and without $115 or so. Now this is on a 4X4 not a 2WD.

Second, OEM is Timkin Bearings so I would buy the same unless you are getting rid of it.

Those bearings are for a 2WD not a 4X4. The 4X4 bearings cannot be replaced because they are also the housing. It is a one piece assembly that needs to be replaced as a whole unit. I tryed to do this and it can't be done on a 4X4.

My Durango is a 4x4 4.7L ... and I have anti-lock brakes so I will probably have to go with the whole hub/bearing assembly with the sensors on it. Autozone has the Timkin bearings and are $215 and their brand the Duralast are $115 ... But on Ebay, whole hub assemblies were 1/2 the Duralast price .... $60 ... Not sure what the brand was though.

I plan on selling my truck in about 2 years ... Most likely I will go with the Duralast Autozone brand but I was trying to find a good deal and to see if anyone has tried ebay ...Thanks for the help ... If anyone has tried Ebay and had a bad part please let me know ...

Just because you have anti-lock brakes doesn't mean anything as they all do! You need to either know if it is 4 wheel ABS or 3 wheel ABS (which is really 2 wheel). 4 wheel will have the front sensors and 3 will not. You need to look at the bearing assembly itself. Now you can always go with the sensor and if you don't need em just simply cut the wire, but either or.
