scan code po441 and stalling.
I keep intermittently getting this code with the check engine light and sometimes it will go out but soon enough comes back.
Now recently, it will stall coming to a stop. after that it will run fine.
a few times accelerating onto the highway, at full throttle it will sputter.
Someone told me, its the NVLD. Can anyone tell me where this is located and how easy it is to fix.
any help would be great.
thanks in advance.

sorry its a 2003 durango 4.7l., no work except for new spark plugs.
i noticed it acts up more in warmer weather.
I also noticed after first starting up, it has a tendency to stall after 3 -10 miles sometimes, but then it starts up and will continue on without an issue or further stalling.
I have also read about the gas cap and just tonight bought a new one. funny thing comparing the gas caps, the older gas cap had a stiff rubber gasket around it, whereas the new gas cap, the rubber gasket is flexible rubber.
the check engine light has been on for awhile and we just lived with it, as everything was working fine except for poor gas mileage.
When the stalling started intermittently, i pulled the plugs and they needed to be done. Without checking here, i installed platinum champion plugs because they did not have the copper champions called for the truck. Initially, it worked great, nice idle, smooth acceleration, fast response on full throttle, etc...... Then a week later, the stalling started. I then read on here the platinums could be an issue, so i pulled those and put copper champions in and again, it worked good for a day, and then one stall at a stop light. So that basically ruled out the plugs.
During the past winter, the check engine would mysteriously go away.but would come back on. again no stalling or rough idle....I did notice a few times after putting gas in, a little while later the light would go out, and i suspected the gas cap but again it would come back on.
Basically, its very intermittent, but since the new plugs, it idles like a dream and has lots its rough idle. gas mileage in the city sucks but on the highway, i think it gets okay gas mileage but again, these Durangos are known to be pigs on gas.
Hope that helps anyone.

well for one i would start looking at evap hoses if i were you both under the hood and at the charcoal canister, they are known to crack and set of CELs in the 044x range,

and for reference the gascap SHOULD have a soft rubber gasket around it, your stock one sounds to be dried out.
Also did you reset the computer after changing the plugs? (not usually necessary, but a good troubleshooting step) if not do it, disconnect battery neg cable, and hold key to start for 30-60 seconds, reconnect and start engine, let it settle in to an idle and shut it down (3 times total please) then take her out for a drive, sometimes thats all it takes.
another thing to check is what the plugs look like after a couple hundred miles of driving (1-2 tanks of gas), this could tell you alot, i have a feeling that the stalling the CEL are unrelated

Thanks for the info!!!!
I checked under the hood but not at the charcoal cannister , i will do that tomorrow.
After changing the gas cap, i just unhooked the neg battery terminal for 1min but the check engine light came back on. I will try resetting it your way tomorrow to see if that makes a difference.
After changing the plugs before, i took off the neg cable but a short while after driving it came back on.
when i changed the platinum plugs, they had 300 miles on them and they looked good.
Do you know where the NVLD is located? I thought i read it was in front of the gas tank.
Hopefully, its just a bad hose at the cannister. I doesnt bother me, it stalling out, but the partner gets stressed out when it happens to her.
I just hate going to the Stealership......
Thanks again..

Platinum plugs don't work in these trucks worth a ****. Replace with good old cheapo Champion Copper plugs and gap em at .040
What is a NVLD?
Next, the charcoal canister is next to the gas tank just in front under the truck.

Natural vapor leak detection
I had it scanned last year and the mechanic said this code was for this nvld. But since then it has gotten worse.
