Cooling Issue
Just wondering if any one has dealt with the same issue. My wifes 03 durango 5.9L was having some overheating issues. I diagnoiced the problem being the radiator which was plugged. I have replaced the clutch fan and also replaced the efan with a 14in aftermarked fan because it was out as well. The d runs cool unless you sit idle for more than 15 to 20 minutes ( all of this in about 101-105 temps ) as soon as you drive off it will cool within a couple of minutes. This will also affect the ac as well. I am thinking that the aftermark efan isn't pulling enough air and needs to be replaced with the factory type. Any ideas? Also does any one know what the factory fans cfm is? Thanks
unless the truck is overheating i would say its not a problem, the truck will run hotter at idle, especially in those temps with the a/c on, i know if i idle for a while i can hear the e-fan go on.
Guess i should have made more clear about how hot it gets. The gauges dont have numbers but it pushes past half way point which i believe is 210. The ac will all but stop working which im thinking may be due to lack of air flow through condensor and in result is pushing the high side pressure to high.
the center is about where the trucks were designed to run, mine only runs a hair left of center, if you are getting way over towards the right (the next hash mark) then start worrying, maybe take a pic and we will tell you if it looks too high or what
and the a/c stopping could be from poor airflow, especially if it works fine when driving

I just recently redone the whole a/c system and pretty much cooling system as well. Assuming it must be after market fan doesn't pull enough air. Guess i should have went back with factory style.
Dan: its all working i just think the after market efan doesn't pull as much cfm as the factory.

Ive fond lots of efan replacements, but i think when i change out the efan ill just go back with the factory style efan. Sure i can find some good use for the one that is on the car now.
