It could of been possible that you had broken a plate and hence the sudden failure. Durango's are a real bastard when it comes to voltage, if it isnt in top shape it act's up like a red headed step child (or hydra the next morning when sober). When it comes to stumbling/dying/not holding an idle out of the blue from a good running situation 98.1% of the time its due to the battery.

Ok, I just have to say that I've worked on cars for the last 30 years and I've never heard of this before.
I'm also hear to say it true!
LOL. The other day I left a cell phone charging in the cig lighter for a few hours and when I came back the truck barely started. (I was very lucky)

Problem was, I had to keep the idle up for the next 15 minutes of driving to keep it running until the battery re-charged it'self.

Thanks to this forum to confirm the unexplained!

 

yup, these trucks are the only vehicles i have ever worked on for which this is the case . . .
