Default 1999 5.9 into 2002 Durango, Any Problems?

Is there any difference between the 2002/2003 and a 1999 5.9 Magnum engine?

Dodge dealers saying the pcm is different and I can't put the 1999 5.9 in a 2002 without changing the pcm.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

that sounds right, i know on the 4.7 in late model year 2002 and beyond they changed the wiring so that the PCM and TCM could be in one unit instead of two, i would imagine that they changed all pcms to match in order to make the wiring easier.

however if you keep your old wiring harness and sensors, the block itself should be the same.

No difference in the 2002/2003 5.9L Magnum motor and 1999 5.9L Magnum motor other than sensors.

Some of the sensors are different on the 1999 5.9L motor then the 2002 5.9L motor. You would need to remove all sensors from the older motor and place the newer 2002 sensors on the older motor for it to run. The PCM it's self is different in the 1998-1999 models then the 2000-2003 models for the 5.9L motor. The PCM on the 4.7L motor has it's own issues that is what Sharp is talking about.
