errr 9 people?? maybe you could FIT 9 people but the third row only has 2 seatbelts, making 3+3+2=8 legal passengers with the front bench seat

Yeah I agree with Shrp on this one... Wouldn't be the safest way to haul 9 people.

+1 Sharps

Only 8 seat belts maximum occupancy with an optional front row bench, 7 without.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I didn't see any answers to this basic question. Any words on what is needed for the front seat swap to a bench. Do I just need to find the bench seat out of a corresponding year Dakota? Or is there more involved if anyone has done this, if not I am going to go for it, but a heads up would be nice to have before I start into this.

You are going to have to get the seat belts and see how they are hooked up. You can try a Dakota but you should get one out of a 1997-1999. It would be better to find one in a Durango, but good luck!

you will have to replace the drivers and passenger seat too bc iirc the center seat of the bench mounts to the driver and passnger mount points

That I don't know but it would make sense, however I'm sure you could fabricate or grab the mounting hardware from the donor. It will be interesting to see.
