Default Bench seat for the front

I was just looking through some of the threads and it dawned on me, when I bought my D, the wife and I were looking at ordering one so we could just get what we wanted and not pay for a bunch of stuff we didn't want and one of the options we wanted was a bench seat for the front. It dawned on me today that I have never seen one with a bench seat up front. Has anyone?
Just curious.

I didn't even know this was an option for the generation. I would love to have my D to have a bench seat.

Bet it would be pricey if you wanted to do this yourself. Especially if you want it to match your interior, and match the leather *if you have. Would probally have to be custome made, anyone know of campany with a website to do this??

if you are really dead set on having a bench seat and have cloth you could try fitting a bench seat from a similar year dakota in there, id be willing to bet it would fit, however you would loose your center console doing this

If I remember right, it had a flip down back for the middle seat that would also turn into an arm rest. You do loose the center console though.
I'll see if I can round up the original pamphlet that was in the show room that showed it. I still have that and the window sticker from when I bought it.

It was avalible, but I think it was 2000-2003 only. Here is a Recall that talks a little about it: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...-durangos.html

My 99 Durango has a bench seat similar to the Dakota what was in my 98 Dakota. Had to factory order car, didn't cost any extra. The center console flips up for the middle seat.

My 2001 Durango SLT has the 40/20/40 split bench seat just like my 2002 Dakota. I wanted it that way and was lucky to find it when I bought it used. I think I can count one hand the Durangos I've seen without the two buckets and console.

According to the research on cars.com the split bench seat was standard on my truck. I guess most people (and dealers) ordered them with the buckets.
