Default Whining noise when on the gas

01 Durango 4x4, 4.7
For the past few months I hear a very slight whining noise when on the gas.
Even if say coasting at 30 and the second I get back on the gas I hear the whine.
If I coast it goes away - occurs at pretty much all speeds that I can hear. Like I say it is a pretty faint whine but definitely i snot a sound the truck has always made.
I'm thinking rear diff or tranny but not real sure where to start to diagnose.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
A little background.
Yes I service the tranny and rear end - not necessarily on Mopar schedule but within the last 30K
Transfer case was ervice about 15K ago.

can you tell us where the whining is coming from? is it coming from the tranny area? engine bay? rear of truck?

The trans should be serviced at no more than 30k intervals and rear and front differentials at least 30K intervals. Engine oil at least 5k. Brake fluid at least 60k as well as PS fluid. I don't understand why you try to state that they don't need to be serviced?

Your issue is most likely the Rear Differential or T-case, and that the service station you had your service not done at, oh ya never mind, lubrication lasts for ever.......LOL......I don't know where you got that from!

Service your truck NOW!

@ WhiteWidow - The sound is definitely Tranny or behind - I can't get a handle on it though.
@Hydra - My intention was not to say that the regular schedule for fluids maintenance shouldn't be followed - only that I am not on the $$ with meeting the schedule.
I am a true believer in changing lubricants if you want longevity.
Enough said - time for a drive train fluid replenishment.

Yeah agreed the whining is common with drivetrain issues and fluid replacement wont necessarily help, sounds like part replacement would be warranted. And yeah change your fluids regularly that should be a given.

Well - the diagnostice for the whining will have to wait a few weeks. I spent a good part of the day doing the rear brakes today. The wheel cylinder let loose on the passenger side so I figured it was time to just to both sides completely.
So the side with the blown wheel cylinder was like butter and I did it first. I left the driver side soaking with PB and wouldn't ya know that was the side that the steel line took a **** on!
I should of heated / quelched it. Oh well - a guy can always use a tube bender in the tool box I guess!
