not likely, sounds to me like you got a faulty belt

 

Never heard of a non-A/C belt braking unless it was installed incorrectly?

 

I had a different shop do the work, and it only cost me $700. That's a huge difference from $1,100.

 

Yep $700 out the door sounds right an a lot better.

 

When I bought my Durango the A/C was bypassed with a shorter belt because the compressor was seized on it too. Truck runs just fine without it. A/C is not necessary for winter defrost but it does help.

 

Yes it's not necessary but it definitely does help because it has evaporated air and not moist air from outside. I hate the fact that I don't have A/C sometimes but I did notice a slight increase in fuel economy since I removed it.
