I will report back after I crawl under there. Since everyone seems to have the TCCM issue, it is probably a matter of time before this issue becomes common too.

also, to ncdurango, I don't recall exactly how I determined it was in 2wd. I think it shifted into 4hi in 1 direction, 4lo in the other, 2wd was somewhere in the middle. even if your motor shifts the gears, it's a 2 part unit. the range sensor part could be bad. ps. my symptoms were a little different. I could go on & on but I just got home with 2 tccm units. paid 40 for one & 50 for the other. fingers crossed!

to ncdurango, being as you are going to test your transfer case motor & range sensor, I assume you are smarter than I and you will probably not bang on your driveshaft. I am now looking for a replacement or rebuilder. I think it was going bad any way but I sped up the process. I would suggest removing & replacing the u-joint if it doesn't collapse properly. good luck.

You got it! But I was wrong, you're an *** instead.

BTW<----3 posts in a row isn't going to get you anything. Just edit your post if nobody has responded.

Well, I think I am happy to report my 4wd Hi now works. The reason i am not sure is because i don't know what happended to make the change. I drove it up on ramps, unplugged the motor, put a multi-meter on the leads, and had my dad move the switch. when he did he said the light was blinking (it didn't do this before). I plugged it back in and heard the motor switch to 4Hi. the light still blinks when switched to 4lo. I don't know if the TCCM's have to re-learn anything like the ECU/DME's do when unpowered for a long period of time. I wonder if derango01 is right that the mode sensor is ***'d.

I will continue to monitor it over the next few weeks. 4hi is of course what i need for the wintery mix but i would like to go wheelin' with my buddy this spring if i can get 4lo working. The wheelin' idea is new to me as i am a track guy by nature. But went to WVU and many friends had some fun rigs (they never let me drive).

Sounds like a bad connection to me.

Also, roll to engage the 4low as Sharps states.

It all works as it should! I thought Park and Neutral would have the same effect but it doesn't. It must be in Neutral like you guys said. We got 7 inches of snow during Christmas so I got to use it and it performed as designed. I guess it was a loose or bad connection to the motor. Thank you guys for all of your input!
