Looking to buy a 1st gen durango
So you drag 7000 pound all the time do you? I would also bet that 4k number is on the safe side for the caprice. I know that is the factory rating but much like your durango it has a half ton truck drivetrain and I would be willing to bet the springs in the rear are the limiting factor not the car itself.
No I didn't say I tow 7000# all the time. Actually for my job I tow around a 20ft cargo trailer that weighs in at about 5000# and the D takes it no problem. I'm sure if I loaded any given station wagon with roughly 5000# day in and day out it would die before my D would towing my 24ft travel trailer day in and day out. The Durango with my setup (3.92 gears, 5.9 engine, 2WD, transmission/oil cooler) is rated to tow about 7,500#. I also have Monroe weight balancing shocks on the back and a weigh distribution hitch so when I'm towing my cargo trailer the tail is still a bit higher than the front.
You will not be able to say anything to get me to believe the 1st gen Durango is comparable to a station wagon. The Durango is the "perfect blend of towing and luxury". IMO a station wagon was a vehicle you could cram the entire family grandma and all in and go out to a picnic, not tow a 5,000# trailer around every day for work.
Theres a line between a work truck and a people mover. You some day will realize that line is no thin line at all.

Maybe someday you will realize your SUV and all the others are set right smack on that line and will do both. The durango is no truck and without the 4wd it is to the average american the same a traditional station wagon.
Ok I understand its not a "truck" in what you think of as a truck you dumb f***in idiot, I have a dually I know what a real truck of what you think it is. I said its a work truck, two different things. It's not a f***in station wagon and without 4WD its just a 4WD truck what the front tires aren't drive tires. Its still got a hell of a lot more weight in the back end than your stupid a** station wagon and just cause it don't have front drive tires also don't mean it's gonna get stuck.
Apparently you don't know s**t about these vehicles because they are in the top 5 of best vehicles to use for towing of that year. I'm not sure if my eyes were mistaking but I have never heard of a station wagon being best vehicle for towing. The closest thing I can think of is a Subaru Baja, which that also got most car bought by lesbians.
Not sure what you're getting at but telling me you compare a Durango to a station wagon makes me think your an ignorant a**hole that just likes running his mouth.
From what I've seen all you do on this forum is try and talk s**t and argue with others about how ou think they're wrong. Listen here buddy when you can give mr valid proof a Durango is a station wagon then I will maybe consider listening. All you've done is pissed me off and hasn't helped the OP at all by saying its a f***ing station wagon. No irs no a station wagon its a largely capable towing machine that seats 5 comfortably. End of story.
Get lost and I wont expect to ever read another one of your posts since songar they've all been a pile of s**t.
Good bye and merry Christmas.

I never said they could not tow or where not good at it. I said to the average american the fill the same bill as a traditional wagon meaning a large people mover. I also said the durango and other suvs are set on that huge line between a work truck and a car. There was no need for all the name callling and foul words just because we have a difference of opinion and you can't seem to see any part of my side of this.
The majority of durango's do the job of a station wagon. I am not sure what the tow rating on a last year caprice wagon was but believe me it would tow plenty and do everything I and most suv owners in general will ever do with them. The durango is just another vehicle to me but they all are even the ones I hold dear. I bought mine because I wanted something I could tow with and the price was right the 4wd was just there I have used it in the snow and ice in the last couple of weeks but I could have gotten by without it.
BTW<----Use spell check cause ya need it!

Were not fighting just getting our point across. Theres no need to start a fight on here, that's not why were here. Were here to help but we love our rides so when some jerk comes telling us it's a station wagon of course were gonna stand our ground and try and prove then wrong.
