interesting. So where would you suggest hooking up a tow strap hook when pulling somebody with a durango?

You found those solid dodge logo covers for 40 bucks a piece? where at? I've seen em cost like 60-70 bucks easily lol. Which is really expensive.

if you bought one of those covers you could use it as a template/stencil and make a smoked out dodge symbol! lol

The best way I've found is with a Reese tri-ball and mount it with the largest ball (2-5/16") up and tie the strap around the ball and then loop it around the other ***** a couple times. The tri-ball is found at Wal-Mart for around $40 and comes in handy more times than not.

I had tried towing people out without a ball and it ended up being more hassle than just forking out the money for a ball.

but if you loop the strap around a tri ball doesn't it not up or get squished like it was knotted? i heard that creates a tension spot which makes the belt weaker?

well its not like i do a lot of towing. maybe I'll get one of those beefy D ring's and have that hang back there lol.

I have used the top strap with the tri-ball a bunch and never had a problem, but like I said earlier, I use a recovery rope now and love it. I just slip the one end around the ball and the other end around the other vehicle frame.

Hey ajoshi, I like the sig pic of your D. It looks sweet but you should at least take the dealership sticker off. That is the first thing I do everytime I get a new truck or car. I ended up taking the "Dodge Durango SLT" emblems off the back of my D and it looks very clean now that my D is emblem free. Hopefully soon I can get rid of that stupid wiper and sprayer, too. I hate those things. It's dirty in this pic but still looks good. My D just got my new sneakers when I took this pic. Name: 100_1388.jpg

i was just curious. I pulled a lil Volkswagen vr6 awhile ago and i hooked the strap to my hitch and was just curious now is that the best place to hook a tow strap to? and how capable is the factory hitch? i pulled the vr6 no sweat but still. just curious
Ajoshi, I have the same 4.7 3.55 4x4 and I pull my other truck which itself weighs in at about 6400#'s of Pure Beast plus about 1300# trailer. It pulls pretty good considering I'm testing all the D's limits. It's a bit sluggish on uphills (obviously) and I take it slow going downhill.

As for pulling someone out from being stuck, I hook one end of the tow strap to the safety chain loop if I don't have my hitch with me, otherwise I would normally put the hook around the ball. The hook hooks nicely around the base of a 1 7/8" ball.

Damn that big ol' durango just in high skool? Ho big are the tires and how high is the lift?

And the smoked dodge emblems would be pretty sweet huh?
