Have a 2001 Durango 2wd with a 4.7 and 160,000 miles.
Original O2 sensors lasted 155,000+ miles.
Been through 6 since (5 up-stream and 1 down-stream) in the last 2 months. They seem to last about 2 weeks +/-.
No sign of external contamination that I can find.
Haven't done any engine work so, no possible contamination from silicone sealers.
Thought maybe a leaking headgasket and hence, possibly antifreeze contamination but, no change in coolant level.
I heard the after market ones were junk so, spent the $100 on the Mopar one and it lasted a shorter time than the Bosch ones from Autozone.

Any help would be appreciated!

 

What codes are you getting ?

 

P0171 is the code every time the up-stream sensor goes. Last time, also got a code for the up-stream sensor heating circuit slow to respond. I can't remember what the # was, P0133 maybe?

 

Do you have a power steering switch leaking at the P/S pump hose's?

 

I haven't seen a leak...where exactly is this switch located?

 

On the pressure line.

 

OK, no outward sign of a leak but, I unplugged the wire from the switch and it is all "wet" inside with oil (fluid)!

 

Changed the power steering pressure switch and cleaned the plug with CRC Electrical Cleaner, then blew it out with air...repeated 3 times.
Hope this cures the O2 sensor issue...is there something else I should do?

 

keep an eye on it for a month or so to make sure there is no more fluid loss, and no codes thrown but other than that you should be done

 

OK, you lost me on this one.... where's the connection between the PS pressure switch and O2 sensor codes?
