Replace IAC now idle way too high.
Like the title says, replaced IAC and now idle at 1500-1600 RPM. I have no knowledge when it comes to engines. Changed IAC on posted advice I found here on forum. Changed because engine would die at start up unless given gas for 2-3 min. IAC was black as hell, Durango has 144,000 miles. Engine is 5.9 L
Any help would be great and appreciated. Thanks.

Did you reset the PCM after doing this? My guess is you didn't, and your computer has to relearn now that it has the proper IAC valve working again
Remove the negative terminal of your battery (10mm wrench).
Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
Turn your ignition key to OFF and remove it.
Connect the negative terminal of your battery.
Start but do not hit the throttle. Idle for about 10/15 seconds then turn off.
Restart the truck and drive as usual. It will take at least 12 starts and 48 miles to fully retune the computer. Hard Codes leave a shaddow for 40 full cold starts.

Think I should do it again?
On my road, the Speed limit is 40mph. Now that is where it idles.

Thanks for answering so quick hydrashocker
When resetting engine code, Turn your ignition key to START and hold it there for about 15 seconds.
Does this mean Start, to hold key like I am trying to turn the engine over?Or does START mean, turn key to ON position?

I just went out and checked the code, this is what came up.
P0505 Idle Air Ctrl Motor Circs
Also, I start Durango, let it idle. If I so much as touch the gas pedle, it goes up to 2300 rpm and stays there until I put it into gear.
Man I hope I didn't screw up bad.

Yes it means you are supposed to turn it as if you're starting the truck.
You didn't extend the plunger because you're not supposed to touch the IAC plunger as it can cause problems.
A P0505 code is due to something messed up with the IAC unit so I'd take back the one you just bought and tell them ira defective and get a replacement.
