I am going to rebuild my trans. and need to remove the o.d. unit, my question is do I need the alignment tool if I just remove it and re-install. I have checked on the alignment tool and for this simple looking splined tool is about 100 bucks. Anybody know of a cheaper one to purchase. I dont have an old tranny, I seen them cut the output shaft to make one.

 

Yes you do need an alignment tool. And you also going to need a press too. So you can remove the direct clutch pack.

 

Can somebody tell me how to remove the overdrive off the transmission on a 46re that's been on there for a while is there anything I need to separate them
