Default Oil pressure gauge is high

Yesterday I noticed my oil pressure gauge on the high side. Are there any concerns about this? I checked the oil level and leaks and everything looked ok. I'm just concerned about anything that might be going bad.

Nothing I would worry about.

Typically on a cold start the oil pressure is higher than normal before the engine heats up. How long ago was your last oil change? Typically a clogged filter can give you a higher oil pressure, at least if that's your oil pressure when its heated up at idle.

If it's like that after a cold start, don't worry about it.

I agree with all that is said . i`ll add if you ever have to change yur oil-pump don`t go with stock , get a aftermarket ( Melling) hi-flow pump ,,, (not hi-pressure ) ,,, more oil flow is better than higher pressure .And Melling has one that give you 25% more flow ,,,,,

The person who did your oil change could have used 10W-40 instead of 10W-30 and that would do that to your pressure. Keep an eye on it and after about 500-800 miles it turns black/dirty then that is most likely your issue.

I had a guy do that before.

Thanks for the reply guys. I probably do an oil change on my next day off. The pressure gauge is like that all day even after driving the truck around town. And I live in south Texas where temps are around 60-70's.

That's what I would do, and use a quality filter (Mobil1 or Bosch) and a quality 10W-30 oil such as Mobil. If you're looking for consistency in your oil and extreme quality, hydra and I suggest Mobil 1 as I have used it since I bought my truck and have yet to have a problem oil related.

Be sure to spend a few extra bucks this oil change and put a good oil and filter on it though, this should help it.

I'd also replace the PCV valve because a clogged valve can cause all sorts of oil pressure problems and its cheap/easy enough to replace, just to rule that out as a culprit.
