But then again, I live out in the boonies, hour and a half round trip to the parts store. If you have one 3 blocks down the street, start with the cap and rotor.

(Basic troubleshooting strategy. When you have a problem with several possible causes, start with the cheapest and/or easiest first, then go from there...)
I would bet on the coil first in this case from what I have read of his reports. If there is no spark from the coil the cap and rotor will do you no good.

Yeah, the coil is a likely suspect. Still, the cap and rotor are a cheap thing to try, and if he doesn't know the last time they were changed out, I'd be willing to bet it's due for them anyway.

But, yes, with no spark to any of the 8 wires, the coil sounds very likely. That's why I said I'd probably just do them all at once.

Thanks for all the suggestioons guys so I threw a spark plug in the wire that runs from the coil to the dist.. And there was only spark if I held it right on a bolt and it wasnt a strong spark at all. Shouldnt the spark coming from, the coil be pretty strong ?

The parts store is only half a mile away so ima try one at a time since this d has all ready burned a hole in my wallet LOL I guess ill go grb a new coil and then ill up date and let yall no if it worked

Werd sucks when they get the fix and leave us wondering...

In other news we had a 99 4x4 D at the car lot we picked up off an individual for $1,500. No fuel/fire. I replaced the CPS to the tune of $40 and bought a rivet gun for re doing the fender liner ( $27 with plastic rivets). Now we have a $4K car on the lot and it took an hour to fix it.
The rivets make it look real professional too.

Any ideas im guesing the sending unit for tje fuel pump is shot .. Does that mean my pump will be going out soon ? I bought some heat gas treatment im hopein that will fix it lol

It sounds to me like the pumps float but could very well be the pump because the pump, sending unit, filters, and regulators are all one unit!
