Default Replacing Stereo

I own a '98 dodge durango and i decided to upgrade the Stereo ( just a new receiver and a couple speakers). Everything was smooth until i began to rewire the new receiver. I need a blueprint of the speaker and stereo wiring ASAP!!!!!
if anyone can help please do so.

Assuming you don't have the Infinity, its the same setup I have. It would have been a million times easier to go to walmart and get a harness that matches up for $12. In your case, too late, so here you go:

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Red/Blue
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Red/White
Car Radio Ground Wire: N/A
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Black/Yellow
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Orange
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: 6 1/2″ Speakers
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: Doors
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Green
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Brown/Red
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown/Yellow
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Brown/Light Blue
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: 6 1/2″ Speakers
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: Rear Doors
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Blue/Red
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown/White
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Brown/Orange

Run your own ground wire to somewhere under the dash, you may or may not have issues without it. The factory radio grounded through the antenna. When I changed head units, mine would cut out and shut down with much over 1/4 volume untill I ran a seperate ground to the truck. I used the ground from one of the accy/lighter plugs under the radio.

Same with the infinity at the back of the head unit. The head units are the same with full output the amp uses speaker level inputs.

If you have an Infinity system then you have a amplifier, so the back of the head unit could be the same, however the rest of the system is completely different.

It is the same head unit infinity or not. If you bypass the amp the system still works like it should. I am sure there is a quality and or loudness difference but the amp in the chrysler vehicles is not like a GM with a bose with a special head unit with a specific output. I used the same stereo plug as a non infinity system in my 98 D when I install my pioneer head unit the only exception is you have to find a place for the ground wire for the amp that connects to the back of the head unit or you will get no sound and that I should have included in my earlier post.

Does anyone know where the amp is located? I have a 98 with the infinity system and the radio turns on and changes but i have no sound. The guy I bought the truck from said they took it out and didnt put it back in when he sold the truck. It had an aftermarket system in it before. Thanks

Check at the back of the head unit first to see if the amp ground is connected. There is a black ground that is separate from the main radio harness that connects to the back of the head unit and without it the amp will not function. The amp is located behind the passenger side kick panel although it is probably there because from what I have read on here you must remove the dash to remove it.

IIRC, the remote wire for the factory amp is brown. You need to connect that to the remote blue on the radio. Amp should be located in the front passenger right side kick panel.

I removed the kick panel and there is a crossover ther I guess left over from the system and no amp however there are two plugs just hanging there. Is there anyway around this or do I need the amp?
