hey everyone,,, im usually over in the ram section but ive been having some issues with my durango and i was hoping someone could help me out... whenever i hit the door lock on the remote or inside the driver side rear door buzzes real loud.. the door still locks and unlocks,, it just buzzes real loud.... my question is,, what would cause this? is there a relay on the latch that might need changed... or do i have to replace the entire latch???

 

I'd open up the panel from the inside and see what's going on. Open it up and have someone press the lock button and try to isolate where the buzzing is coming from. Could be something as simple as something rubbing on your lock mechanism.

 

i did take the panel off,,,, i tried to check everything out,,,, its not a rubbing sound,, its a serious buzz.... and its loud,, like being able to hear it across a parking lot when you hit the button loud.... its extremely embarrassing.... lol

TJ, Indy's not usually wrong. Check it out before you pass judgement. Who knows, it could be the solution you are looking for...

 

Take the door panel back off and grab the biggest screwdriver you can find.

Hold the end of the screwdriver against various componenet, and put your ear to the screwdriver handle while you press the button on the remote. Works like a stethoscope, and you should definitely be able to tell when you have the screwdriver on the component making the noise.

And, yeah, if Indy says it's the actuator, I'd be willing to bet that's what it is.
