Default A/C problem: Black box in cab leaks and is loose, no cold air.

Hi All,
Im try to help my mother out on a A/C problem she is having. She has a 1998 Dodge Durango 5.2l V8 VIN:Y. My younger brother threw a temper tantrum and kicked the black plastic box under the glove box very very hard. it is now very loose and leaks water. The A/C is no longer pumping out cold air at all. What could be the problem. I also have no clue what the black box is and my not very vehicle A/C savvy so all and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Guys.

Sounds like he broke both the heater core lines and the A/C lines. This is not a small job in any way! Take it in as the entire dash must be removed to assess it not to mention special tools to re-fill the A/C system.

One a second note, tell your baby brother that he needs anger management.

The heat still works great and its no longer leaking but still no A/C and the A/C is fully charged and has no leaks...

And my little brother has a major anger problem. he is OCD and Bipolar.

Also what is the little box under the glove box?

And is there an easy to get a look and see if its a broke line?
Thanks for your help.

Ouch. You have a $1500 temper tantrum on your hands. Depending on the value of the Durango since it is a 1998 5.2L, that may have totaled it based on value-to-repair costs.

well its in great shape no scratches, dents, nicks or body damage. never had any major problems or repairs until this one. it was in a small accident once where there was a homeless guy walking down the middle of an icy road where she went to avoid him and slid into a telephone pole. we had to replace the front driver side fender... nothing too major.

Well I brought it to my uncle(Mechanic) today, After he took a look at it he said it could cost up $800 in parts. So im going to just bypass the compressor and use the windows on hot days. repairs arnt really worth it seeing how the A/C doesnt get used much.

Yeah unfortunately that's what we figured. Are the heater core lines fine? I know the last thin you want is to spring a small leak there and have an overheating vehicle the next day. Keep an eye on the coolant level and make sure its not going down.
