Why not put a set of underdrive pulleys from March Performance Pulleys,,,i have a set on mine motor ,,,they do free up about 12.5-15hp typical at rear wheels ....not a myth is does free that much up from less accessory drag

Are you absolutely sure it's the alternator pulley? This seems like an awful lot of work if you're just guessing.

Could very easily just be due for a new serpentine belt... As they age the rubber gets hard and "less sticky", causing them to slip a little and squeal.

That's where I was going with my questions too.

Guessing there is your problem..........

Anyway, if you use a lubricant/cleaner and the problem goes away the most likely that is your issue.

Replacements are hard to find. But I found this MSD universal replacement. It looks pretty awesome if you're willing to drop $40+ on one. http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/msd-...ampaign=Pronto
The MSD site has more specific details about it: http://www.msdignition.com/Products/...tine_Belt.aspx

I'd check at RockAuto or NAPA for a replacement pulley.

Right, but a lot of those lubricating sprays will temporarily soften rubber. So if a little bit of overspray got onto your belt it could make it a little more sticky for a little while and eliminate the squeal.

Not saying your diagnosis is wrong, just suggesting an easier option to try first. Especially since it's a good idea to keep those serpentine belts fresh anyway.
