How do you guys think this looks?
I am interested in buying some rims for my Durango and I was just wondering what you think of the black on black look. Here are some pics I found of this Durango with black rims and I was gonna ask other Durango officianados what they thought. Of course I must also state that I would ONLY put black rims on a black vehicle and my D is a 2003 black R/T similar to the one in the pics but more upgrades, cosmetic and performance. Ok let the criticism begin!

I guess if you are going for the "Knight Rider" look, it would be cool. **chuckle** Something about it just didn't look right. Maybe if the rims were completely black. Those are outlined. Undecided and no help I guess.
I thought the chrome lip looked pretty damn good in my humble opinion. I think all black wheels would definately over do it. I just thought the black on black look would be unique and something that you don't see everyday. Still undecided. More input people!!!
disclaimer: this is my opinion. Please don't do it unless you're going to do it all the way. i.e. making an entire statement with the ultimate blackness of your car through even more modifications. Note: I have a VON for a black Magnum SRT-8, so I definitely like black.
I'm a visual designer for print, video and web (not cars mind you) but I looked for a web link to illustrate the principle of contrast as one of the most important elements of design. I'm including a link on web design below but all design is based on the same principles so just replace the words web page with "car or vehicle" as necessary.

Contrast is essential
The overall graphic balance and organization of the page is crucial to drawing the reader into your content. A dull page of solid text will repel the eye as a mass of undifferentiated gray, without obvious cues to the structure of your information. A page dominated by poorly designed or overly bold graphics or typography will also distract or repel users looking for substantive content. You will need to strike an appropriate balance between attracting the eye with visual contrast and providing a sense of organization:
Visual balance and appropriateness to the intended audience are the keys to successful design decisions. The most effective designs for general Internet audiences use a careful balance of text and links with relatively small graphics. These pages load into browsers quickly, even when accessed from slow modems, yet still achieve substantial graphic impact:
When establishing a page design for your Web site, consider your overall purpose, the nature of your content, and, most important, the expectations of your readers.

The black on black looks good, but with those rims in the pictures, I don't like how there is a silver lining going around the rim. If it's going to be black, I'd go all black. Chrome wouldn't be good because it's getting played out too much and it's not really original. Plus with chrome it's constant upkeep. Do you have a link for the exact rims you're buying?

NO go from me. I like more contrast with my rims selections and the crome rim outline makes the tires look like whitewalls. Deffinately not the right look for that Durango. All black can and does look pretty cool but it must be done just right.
