Well I blame my not so highway friendly A/Ts, I can imaging they have a high rolling resistance and that they cup air.

 

Yeah thats what i calculate for myself. not the computer readings. I don't know. i keep it well maintained (I think) i give it oil changes roughly every 3,000 miles might go over just a tad. though i just run regular store brand oil (cheap **** basically) i change the air filter and keep it clean. I just recently changed the spark plugs maybe 2500-3000 miles ago. i don't get on it a lot. i accelerate anywhere from 2000-3000 rpm. usually 2500 rpm.

And Sharp you're right most of my driving is city/suburb driving. not like downtown in the city, city.

Since I've gotten my durango its only gotten maybe 13 mpg city at best and like 12 mpg city when winter. its been really bad this winter 10-11 mpg city and 16 hwy.

This question is probably best served for a different thread but what can i do to get better gas miles. gas is $3.60 a gallon here. and is gonna hit $5.00 dollars a gallon this summer. ($5.39 in Orlando already!!)

 

Yeah Ive gotten up to 11 city and 16 highway this winter. My overhead has read out at 16 city and 21 highway but again thats only when I'm driving easy. And as I also said my overhead is very accurate.

 

Well its never been this bad in the winters. I'm not sure why it has gotten so bad. I think I'm gonna flush my tranny. or a partial flush. change the filters and what ever fluid is in the pan with that expensive atf+4 stuff.

 

I prefer to use Valvoline ATF +4 just because it's easier to find than going to a dealer and it's good quality every time from what I've seen.

Still waiting on Mobil to release an ATF +4...

well i just calculated my gas miles. If i'm doing this right (I am ) I should be getting 12.375 mpg this past week. its been about 30 degrees outside temperature average here.

This is better than i was expecting!! lol

 

I just calculated mine and got 21! This week I didn't do any towing and made long trips on the highway for the majority.

What I do to calculate mine, I'm sure this has been mentioned a million and a half times, but I fill the tank up and reset the Trip. I then drive and when it's time to fill up (try to get it past once the fuel light comes on) and fill it up to the top again. Divide how many miles you went, displayed on the trip, over how many gallons you just put in.

Very simple, and I'm sure this is the way you did it but you have to make sure to fill it all the way to the top when you go to refill when you go to calculate MPG.

 

yep, thats how i do mine. from when my light comes on to fill up than divide miles by gallons. I'm roughing about 12.375 like i said above. i think in the summer i was getting about...13.2 mpg.

which is what my computer was telling me before i reset the average mpg when i did my air intake. than it went up to 14.5 but i was getting around 13.5 or so. i get on the gas more since all my windows are down lol.

 

This website claims a 4.7l v8 2002 dodge durango with 4wd gets 12 mpg city and 16 mpg highway so a combined 14 mpg average.
