Friggin front steel bumper......grrrr
I have noticed in other threads that some are replacing the front bumper with the one piece from the '03 & up. Is this the better way to go or what do you think? I have minimal rust showing on the surface of the bumper and knowing that it is there is starting to drive me nuts.
Thinking I could have it buzzed primed and painted but should I just get new steel or upgrade.........
thanks boys!

Hmmm my 00 has a plastic bumper. I know it was in an unreported accident. Carfax says it's accident free but a headlight mount is cracked, the condensor is pushed in, and the pass side of the bumper looks like it sat on some grass for a little while and is slightly discolored.
Mine is actually stock and is part metal, part plastic. The top part of the bumper whet it meets the grill is metal and the bottom part where the fog lights are (transmission cooler area) is plastic. All OEM here!
I'm my signature you can see a slight dis-coloration where the plastic is darker than metal.

Yeah I've been fortunate I haven't had any scrapes or anything get thru the paint to make it start rusting. I got a 2000 and not the tiniest bit of rust anywhere.
I'd say take up on Indy's advise on that Stillen. You can't go wrong with urethane!

Definitely.
My 98 is white. Looks just like the pic in Widow's sig, except that the steel part (thin part, right below the grill) is about 40% rust now.
Also, I've been paying attention to Durango's for a year or two now when driving around, and at least in my area there seems to be a definite pattern that the white ones are much more prone to rust than other colors. Almost ever white D I see has the rusty bumper, and on other colors I see it only rarely to occasionally...
My 99 is dark blue, and not a speck of rust to be found anywhere on it.
