Default Steering linkage?

02 SLT 5.9L AWD

Is there a simple, definitve way to test a steering linkage? When I hit a bump, especially while turning, I hear a pop (or thump, hard to describe). I can feel it in the steering wheel. Does this sound like a steering linkage or ball joint?
Last summer I replaced the upper ball joints, front wheel bearings, shocks and a cv axle.

Don't guess. Have it looked at.

Westside = Big O Tires in Brownsburg can be trusted. Ask for the owner "Mike"

LOL. We can sleep when we are dead.

When in the 'Burg... stop by the Allstate office on Main Street and say "hi."

Problem solved... It was the steering shaft. $200 and 45 minutes later it's as good as new.

That long hair doesn't look like he should be singing country or that that voice can even come out of this head!
