Default Georgia know inspection for rebuilt titles

My wife and i visited through areas of GA past summer loved it especially since i have been living in South Florida. We want to move to the GA area soon but need info. Hope you can help with answer.

I have rebuilt title. air bag light stays on all the time. I bought it with that problem. Florida doesn't have a problem with air bag lights to get a rebuilt title when inspected.

Went on-line and found GA says even though I have a clean rebuilt title I still need it inspected, crazy.

QUESTION: Will GA inspection fail my van due to airbag light on constantly because that will put me in a pickle about moving?? Nuts to think they would because its ironic that you can drive without air bags and can't in a car, if that turns out to be the case.

I went on line can't find an answer to it. Wrote DVM they didn't write back. Saw that you like cars so hopefully you might know the answer

Typically an air bag light won't trigger them to fail the whole thing. Usually when they fail it (to my knowledge in TN) they are mainly concerned about a Check Engine Light or ABS light.

Georgia is a non-inspection state. I lived just outside of Augusta for four years, Vidalia for 11 years and still have property in extreme south Georgia.

HOWEVER, certain counties in/around metro Atlanta require inspections. I believe an Air Bag light in cars equipped with the system is a fail.

If the air bag light is because it deployed during whatever crash caused the thing to have a junked title, it's gonna be about a $1200 deal.

If it's simply due to a failed clock spring (as every Chrysler product is prone to have) then it's about a $50 part and an hour to replace yourself, or about a $250 to have the dealer do...

HOW MANY DAMN SECTIONS ARE YOU GOING TO POST THE EXACT SAME QUESTION IN?
I've found it in seven different section so far. Here, South Region, 2nd Ram, 1st Ram, 4th Gen Ram, 3rd Gen Dak and 1st Gen Durango!!!

I'm locking all but the first one I saw, which is the one in this section

We DO NOT POST THE EXACT SAME QUESTION ALL OVER THE FORUM.

READ THE RULES, they are in the New Member section:

We understand that some topics might fit into more than one forum. Please try to pick the best one. In addition, please do not post in the same thread back to back (another version of double posting), if you have something more to add, edit your post, don't post twice in a row in a thread.

Ha ha ha!.....Nice find Hammer!

Anyway, you could go to a bone yard and pull the airbag control module out of the same year and type and install it in yours and probably be ok. Just make sure you disconnect the neg on the battery for at least 2 ful minutes so the module will power down or you could cause air bags to deploy. The module is located inside the cab, above the transmission cover dead center under the dash. Once an air bag fires the air bag that fired and module must be replaced.

As hydra stated the airbag module will need to come from another D (i mean "van" since you posted in the wrong section) that hasn't had the airbags deploy, which might be more difficult finding in a salvage yard but is possible. The airbag light usually means the module isn't seeing any resistance between the two airbag wires going from it to either airbag so a wire is probably broken or as stated above the clockspring is bad, which is a common problem.

Before you do any testing or repairing, just pull both airbags out of the steering wheel and dash since you need to access those wires anyways if you wanted to do a resistance check. The airbag light on the dash comes on also if they were deployed before and the module hasn't been replaced.

Spoke to Georgia inspection man. He said rebuilt titles from other states still must be inspected. Therefore in that respect it is a inspection state. If air bag light is on they will fail auto. Florida will not.

As far as air bags. Mine was deployed before buying it. For those who have air bag experience. QUESTION: If i found a package deal, 3 bags, with a module that says tested, will I then be able to assemble in van and have it work? Or are there other computers in van that made not recognize the module?
