correct, the computer uses the speed sensor on the output shaft of the transmission, and the sensor on top of the rear differential to determine vehicle speed

Will be replacing the TPS this weekend. How do I reset the PCM without using a scanner or going to a shop?

Unhook the negative side of the battery and keep it free from anything. While its undone turn the headlights on and turn the key to START. Hold it on start for 30 seconds and turn it to OFF. Turn the headlights off and replace the negative battery cable and tighten down the start they Durango. Keep it running for 10 seconds and turn it off. Restart it and you're good to go.

No the new TPS will come with both a new gasket and a o-ring. Your current TPS will have one of them on there, mine had the gasket but IDK about yours. Use the new gasket or o-ring, just depends what the old TPS was using.

Will swap it out and give it all a try this weekend. I've heard that the TPS and RSS tend to go out alot.

It's more of a common occurance than going out a lot. Typically it will go out and then you'll be good to go for a long time. Think of it this way, take the mileage you have now, thats how long the TPS lasted and the new TPS will last longer than that usually.

The systems are different so I don't think so.

So far I want to thank everyone who has responded and has given their insight and help it's greatly appreciated. It seems so far I have been experiancing issues that others have. I am hoping that tomorrow when I get it back the shop the trans leak is no more and that the TPS will get her running back to where she should be. Any insight into what would cause the leak outside of a bad gasket or the pan not sealing right when it was reinstalled and should I have the shop check the bands and adjusted if need be?
