Hi guys I've got a 2002 Durango R/T 5.9l and my check engine light has been on for a while now with error codes PO308 and PO445. I know PO455 has to do with the EVAP system or something and PO308 is cylinder 8 misfire. I've seen other thread about this but all the others say their car makes weird noises. Mine works great and doesnt make any weird noises (exept for my squeeking belt). I've got no mods and i cant see any broken wires or anything. What could cause these problems??? Thanks guys!

 

take a look under the hood at night, see if the plug wires are arcing,

also when was the last time you did a full tune up (plugs, wire, cap, rotor) this could very easily solve the problem if its been a while (btw use ONLY Champion Copper core plugs gapped to .040

 

Yep that did the trick. Replaced the plugs, wires, ignition rotor, distributor cap (which had some corosion) and the lights gone. thanks!

 

good call... autozone tried to tell me to replace a seal to fix it... i said heck no...

 

PO445 is still there though. Anyone know common causes and fixes?

 

sounds to me like a wire problem on the purge solenoid, or a bad purge solenoid

 

Thanks but I'm an idiot. I realized i wrote PO445. I meant to say PO455- large leak detected. All these codes are a little confusing lol. Probably a hose going to the solenoid. I'll check.

 

Well if it's P0455 then that's a completely different story and might be an easy fix. Take the gas cap off and put it back on and make sure it clicks 3 or 4 times. Typically the gas cap being on there loosely will throw this exact code so that's where I'd start.

If that doesn't help try replacing the gas cap. $6 is a good place to start before you start throwing money in places it doesn't need it.

 

Ya thanks but I tried tried that and the code keeps coming up after reseting it. Anyone know were some hoses are that could be cracked and causing this?

 

With a major leak its likely it's not a cracked hose but a broken hose that's causing a huge leak. Check the main hose that goes from the front of throttle body to the EVAP service port on the driver side firewall. These are pretty flimsy with age and can break pretty easy.
