You run the risk of overcharging or possibly overheating the battery with the sensor unplugged for prolonged periods of time.

I recommend ordering that sensor ASAP and gettin it replaced the day you get it. If the charging system overcharges or overhears the battery it could be a catastrophic consequence of laziness.

As for getting he charging system checked out, no you should be fine if it's working fine with it unplugged. It it wasn't working either way I'd so get that checked out though.

Excuse my ignorance,

I have never in my life heard of such a thing. Can you explain why, if the battery was hot it would turn the electic fan on to cool the motor. The battery doesn't have a cooling system fin in front of the fan to "cool" it. Not to mention the user stated he has a 1999 therefore there is no fan.

Do you have any information to back up this statement or are you simply "shooting from the hip".

you are right! This system does not have an electric fan. and the battery does not feel hot.

the battery temp sensor is used to get the initial ambient air temp and to regulate battery charging, does nothing for the e-fan even if you have one, get it replaced and move on
