Default Just replaced the PCM and the engine dies

I had the P0601 code so I ordered a refurbished PCM from an Ebay store, ALL COMPUTER RESOURCES INC., with my VIN and mileage flashed into it by them. I installed it, re-connected the battery and it starts and immediately dies! I've done it for 20 times and it keeps stalling. Is there something else I was suppose to do or is it possible the PCM is defective?

Has anyone else dealt with this particular company?

I have never bought from them but they would be on my top with great feed back and transaction counts.

I have seen my fair share of DOA's on rebuilds, however is it stumbling or does it just die no matter what and you can't keep it running at all? If it dies no matter what I would call them and have them replace it. Ensure you get one for a 2001 4.7L as I believe that's what you have!

It was actually one of your posts to someone with the P0601 code that I found the link to them that you supplied. I agree with 100% with over 1300 feedbacks they seemed like a good source for this.
To answer the above...it starts right up, runs for 1 to 2 seconds and dies. I can even give it a momentary quick rev right after starting and then dies.
I'm going out now to put the old one back so I can get to work tomorrow and I guess I'll be contacting them.

Any updates? I've had a P0601 for over a year and have been meaning to do exactly what you did. BTW, I read somewhere that if you have the chipped key, you need a PCM designed with that feature...was that the prob?

As told to me by the Dodge dealer this is correct. There's a SKIM and non-SKIM version. I contacted this place I got the refurb from and told them my problem, his recommendation before sending it back was to re-connect it, start the car and right after it dies (which is 2 seconds), disconnect the battery and let it sit so it can reprogram the VIN because the former vehicle's VIN may not have cleared.
Now I'm in a desperate dilemma with this because the car is out of inspection and it won't pass emissions with this error, so hearing this info as complete senseless BS, I took the vehicle to my dealer and asked if they will re-flash this correctly so I can get this resolved since it took 8 days to get this and it sounds like the PCM functions it's just an info mismatch thats making it shut back off after it starts. They agree and while I'm waiting the service rep tells me it's the wrong PCM for the vehicle. The PCM they sent me is a SKIM version and my car doesn't have SKIM. Armed with more info on this I contacted this place to inform them that the dealer said it was a SKIM PCM and I need a non-SKIM. Right after this guy hears I took it to the dealer he tries to hit me with void of warranty and the dealer ruined it, which I quickly fired back at the fact that this thing didn't work from the start NOT when the dealer looked at it coupled with the fact the dealer claims it's not the right version! I had more "choice" words during this exchange and the tone changed to which he agreed to send another unit and for me to send the other back. He also denies it's the SKIM version and says the VIN indicates SKIM or non-SKIM. My other reason for seeing the dealer is I told them when I ordered it a specific mileage and afterwards I was forced to drive it before it showed up. I was concerned that the mileage discrepancy was also an issue for it so I figured if the dealer sured that number to the actual this might fix it. I mention this because when I asked the dealer if this makes a difference in it working or not, he said it has to be within 100 miles of the actual. The refurb place didn't even want to know the current mileage for the second unit and claims it can have 2 miles programmed into it that it makes no difference. Maybe it's me but I tend to put more faith in the Dodge dealer knowing more about my Dodge vehicle then some smack selling refurbished PCMs on Ebay!
Well now that I've explained the events of last week I'll bring you up to current. They shipped out another PCM and sent it 2nd Day air which arrived this afternoon. I didn't have a chance to install it today but it's top on the list tomorrow morning and frankly I'm not pinning much hope on it. This refurb costs $200 with free shipping, the dealer wanted over $800 and a 10 day wait to get one in so that's why this route tempted me. If I could do it over I think I would except the fact that the "Durango gods" required a greater sacrifice then $200 and pay the dealer the greater offering and be done with it!
Good luck to you if you opt for the refurb route! As for me, if this one doesn't work and they want to refuse the refund, I'll take it up with PayPal and trash his 100% feedback score!

to be continued...

Still doing, refer to my post to johnharvard78 for details. I've had this light and code for almost a year and it seemed to run fine at first but in Feb of this year it developed a surging idle problem which I posted earlier this year. Even after having the AIC and TPS replaced it still did it and still does it to this day. I'm suspecting this PCM may have something to do with this, also the other day while driving it home from work it really started acting up, the engine kept stumpling the whole ride, tach was going crazy, it acted like the motor was constantly shutting off and turning on when I would step on the gas. It would stumble from time to time for the past several months but nothing like this. Whatever is wrong with it it's getting progressively worse, yet I drove it for some local errands the past two days and it didn't skip a beat. Going by the code and what the PCM does I'm going to blame this for all it's woes.
