Default Just plain stuck

My neighbor was mowing the back yard with the tractor and got it stuck. Of course I had to go try and get him out. I was walking on top of the grass OK but got a little cocky and burped the throttle. Thats all it took. Sitting on the frame and the diffs, unable to rock it back and forth because when I went through the turf into the soup below, the tires just wouldn't grab. Spent four hours with about 100 ft of chain because we couldn't get any closer but with that much chain, couldn't get a good jerk on it. Wrecker came out and I was glad to see it wasn't the little tow truck. He hooked on to my chains and actually started to slid the truck before it popped out. Once I got out of the holes I just walked it right back up to the road, restoring my faith a little bit.

Ten minutes with a digging spade would have got you out of that no problem.

Ummmmm.... yeah. Right.
That stuff is like driving in soup. The surface is juuusssttt firm enough to walk on, but one you break thru it you might as well give up. I got my tractor buried behind my pond just dragging a bunch of tree limbs back to burn. Walked on it with no problem, drove the lawnmower over it with only a little bit of squishing, but once I broke the surface with the wheels of my 8N it just sunk. The more you move the deeper you get. Sure makes a hell of a rut to fill when you're pulled out too!
