Rob, I had the same amount of play in mine before I replaced it. But, I also has a popping that I could feeling through the steering wheel when I hit small bumps, especially at slow speed while turning.

For me, my steering started to have a little play also, but mine was not the ujoints. It was the inner tierod that was worn. Replaced that and inspected the rest of the steering components underneath and the steering play disappeared.

Okay, I ordered the complete shaft for $140 but when I got it it wasn't the right one. My steering box has a splined connect to the shaft and this one wasn't. So I am back to the drawing board. I have the old shaft out now so I think I will just replace the juoint.
