Yesterday while stopped in traffic after driving with a/c on. My 02 4.7 durango just died...it would only stay running with jumper cables attached. Today i installed a reman altinator and a new battery. i di dhave th eold batterty tested and it was dead..no cold crank amps at all. Now It starts up right away but it is running rough and stalling out after i step on the gas while parked. any help please get back to me or contact 856-472-1405.

make sure the connections are tight at the battery and follow the ground cable and make sure that is clean and tight at the other connection too, if all that checks out fine i would look into the IAC motor or the TPS as the issue.
also make sure there is no corrosion on the battery cables as this can cause poor current transfer which will cause similar symptoms to a dead/dying battery.

Like shrp said it sounds to me like the battery terminal clamps are not tight enough on the posts. Make sure they are very tight and there is no play in them or this is known to cause tons of problems in the Durango and the Ram. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get that new battery load tested to make sure you maybe didn't get a dud, especially if it's a cheaper one that is more likely to get a dud.

Thank you everyone for the feed back.. I did have a bad altinator which killed my battery completey. It ended up that the throttle valve was filthy and when the battery died it had in memory that it was stuck or something was wrong with it and kept it stalling after the new battery and alt were installed..once i cleaned it out...she now runs like a champ.
