Default new to this forum...quick engine question

hi there im new to this forum i have a quick question for you guys. i have a 1998 dodge durango slt with the 5.2. the engine in it is shot theres more oil outside of the engine then inside lol. i bought a used 5.2 motor from the junkyard and i sent it out to a engine machine shop to get rebuilt it got new rods, pistons, cam, bearings, heads, springs, valves, gaskets, rockers, bolts etc..100 percent of the internals of the engine are brand new and i also got the crank balanced and the guy told me that gave me like an extra 30 horsepower. the question now is i wanna get a little bit more power out of the engine do you guys think it'll be worth to get aftermarket intake manifold, headers, throttle body, fuel injectors? with all that if im not gonna gain much power for the money im paying ill just put the stock stuff back on. im not looking to build a race truck i just want something with a little bit more power. thanks for reading

Welcome to DF
I have seen supercharger on the 5.2 dakota's. I don't see why not a durango. I would a search on the forum, for a performance section.

if it was me i would start with headers, knn intake, exhaust system, and a superchips and see how you like that... you can also put a locker in the rear and get better traction...

What I've done is a lot like what you're talking about doing and I noticed a huge difference in the build! If you're going to get it rebuilt, why not build a new engine with a stroker? This is what I did basically bored it out, new everything and she has way more power to her. I also did a Mopar Performance intake with a Holley throttle body and a K&N FIPK intake system.

Also, I run Iridium spark plugs, have a MSD Digital ignition system with DUI 10mm wires, brand new injectors, very heavily tuned PCM, Borla exhaust system that is Single In/Single Out 3" from the CAT back, Ceramic coated Gibson shorty headers, and of course a powerhouse 47re Viper transmission. Also this is all delivered to my 4.56 gear ratio in the rear-end!

I just got it dyno tested a couple weeks ago and the numbers turned in at around 530 hp and 580 ft/lb of torque! Definitely worth the build for me but all at a cost of around $9,000 so the choice is yours. Go big or go home! LOL

Ya a stroker would kick some serious HP.
