Any quick fix for a blocked A C drain ?.
yea in theory you are right samnbensdad, i still prefer to ride w/ the windows down instead of the air on and i do notice an mpg decrease with the air on, its all a matter of where (what speed) the drag on the motor from the aerodynamic loss is equal to the drag on the motor from running the a/c compressor, when the drag from aerodnamics is greater you will loose the benefit of not running it, these trucks being so unaerodynamic as it is makes that a pretty high speed.
its on the firewall, behind the passenger side of the engine, above the exhaust piping, i know mine drips right on the exhaust and you can hear it boiling away the water, unfortunately i dont have a picture for you.
I called my local dealer and they indicated if I came in for an oil change they would clear it for free. At 8 am this morning I went in, had the oil changed and was informed that the job required 8 hours to fix. The drain is located behind the fender well! The did tell me that I could remove the glove box, drill a small hole right below the evaporator and run a coat hanger through the drain. Apply some rtv sealant and Its fixed. Any thoughts? Again. I have a 2003 durango with a 4.7L
Never bin to South Florida in summer have ya, it can get rather hot here, and it can still be in the 90,s during rainstorms of biblical proportions !, not good with the windows down.
I will be trying to fix mine this weekend, if it goes well I will post and let you know what I did. Meanwhile if you do a google search for " blocked durango a c drain", you will find results from this very forum that will not come up with the regular search forum tool, and from other forums also.
