Default 01 Durango SLT 4.7 problems

So like the name says...getting a code, not sure of the number exactly but it says "gear 4 ratio incorrect." The truck will get up to 3rd and then of course have problems getting into 4th. You'll be goin down the road and when it gets into 3rd the truck will act like you hit the brakes (as in the front dips down) but the rpms will shoot up a good 2000 or so...and by that time I left off the gas so idfk whats after that. When you turn OD off, no problems at all. I've talked to several people and heard everything from "just get a tranny flush" to "transmission speed sensor" to "we need to take the transmission apart and see" ...so your thoughts? Should I just get the fluid changed or is a flush okay? And I plan on replacing that sensor also but where is it located? I was told drivers side of transmission, but want to be sure.

flushes are very bad, the code would be nice to have but it sounds to me like you arent shifting into OD.

So the first thing i would do is to check the fluid level, if its low top it off and see if that does it, if its fine then i would change the fluid and filters DO NOT FLUSH THE TRANS!!!!!

Yeah, it'll get into OD but still act up by doing what I said or just act weird in that gear. Fluid was a little low a while ago but got that covered. But aight, I knew the flushes were bad, just wanted to be sure haha.

I picked up a speed sensor but can't figure out where it goes. On one half, its white and screws in to wherever its supposed to go and the other half is where the plug goes obviously. I asked for the transmission speed sensor and not the ABS speed sensor, but either way, I can't see where either would go haha

the transmission speed sensor screws into the transmission tailshaft its the only sensor on there

P0700-INTERNAL TCM
P0442 Evap Leak Monitor Medium Leak Detected
i believe the first one means that there is a code stored in the TCM, but you need a DRBIII to read it iirc
the evap leak is either a cracked hose at the charcoal canister, or a bad gas cap

The output sensor goes on the drivers side toward the back (I think on that 45RFE trans). When was the last time you replaced both filters and fluid?

P0700-INTERNAL TCM

Isn't that the Transmission Control Module failure? I thought that code meant he needs to replace it.

Sorry guys but I'm not seeing it. I've checked under that truck 5 times in the last hour. I see a few sensors but none match the size or shape of the one I got from the store so pictures possibly or a more exact area of location? But damn you, hydra, I was happier with the sound of his explanation for 0700 cause I used to get PO0743 (I think) which I believe is "gear 4 ratio incorrect" which is why I'm going through all this lol. I'll take another look real quick for that sensor though. Please don't think I'm as much of an idiot as I sound. I assure you, I'm not haha. Just looked and on the drivers side I see 4 things plugged in. First one is above where the pan starts..then a big one shortly after but a lil lower..then one right where the transmission meets the transfer case..then another small one on the transfer case right where the transfer case and front driveshaft meet...nothing after that or on the tailshaft...

download the pdf shop manual for the 2002 durango from the FAQ thread, its close enough that it should give you the answers you need.
