Default chime noise

I have a 2001 durango with only 46,000 miles. Just the other day the vehicle started to make a chiming noise only a few times, now it chimes every minute or two, no warning lights are on, any idea? Have taken the vehicle to several places and no one can figure it out>

the chimes usually come from the CTM which is in the drivers side kick panel, do you have any other odd electrical gremlins that you cant seem to figure out?

The only other thing is the heated seat on the drivers side does not work and has not worked for about 8 months.

the heated seat is not related, and there is a free and easy fix for that in the FAQ thread (just search the thread for heated seat)

Load test your battery at a local Auto Zone or what not for free. They don't even need to take the battery out.

+2 on the load test.... alot of stupid things can show up when a battery is not giving the proper juice...

Did a load test on battery, working fine. Does any know where I can get a wiring diagram for my Durango so I can try to figure out which wire I need to disconnect. I tried disconnecting one but it also disconnect the power door locks. Thanks Mj

the FAQ thread at the top of the forum has factory service manuals linked into it, they contain the wiring diagrams you are looking for.

Possible failing door switch? Sensing a door opening with the keys in the ignition will make it chime. I believe the switch is integral with the latching mechanism.
