U-joint or Wheel hub?
D started making 'rubbing/dragging' sounds after I put the new tires on.. thought it was a brake dragging, so I replaced the caliper. Still making the sound. I've noticed it at slow speeds, sometimes at 10mph, most notably when accelerating at about 20mph, smoothing out around 25...
I don't notice it at highway speeds, or around curves (that I've been paying attention to)
Now, when I changed the rotors, I really had to beat the he** out of the old ones to get them off... which I guess I could have damaged the hub bearings.
I don't want to throw any more unnecessary money at this, especially since I'll be driving about 1000 miles Friday and Saturday.
How can I check to see which part it is (if either). I need to get this fixed.. quickly...

Yeah, thats what I was thinking too... just have to figure out which hub. I know I did a hub on my previous Chevy pickup and ended up doing the wrong one because it 'felt' like that was the side that was doing it in the floorboard. I will try to raise it here in a few minutes and see if I can feel any looseness in the 12:6 of the wheels. Of course, these hubs only cost about half what those did...
What size is the axle nut on these? Any special tools? Do I need someone to help? I am a one vehicle person, so once it's in the air and started to be disassembled, I can't just run and get something from the store

You could try to feel the bearing for wearor you could get in and drive it. When turning to the right if the noise gets louder on the drivers side most likely it's the drivers side, now it gets quieter then most likely it is the passenger side. Hold only the old bearing as you might need to put it on the other side.
There was a cheap place you could buy new bearings https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...stigation.html from Detroit-Axel. I tried a set on my car and they worked great. Besides, I think they are an American Built Company.

I think it might actually be the drivers side rear brake dragging... going to investigate that later this evening... will be driving 450 miles on the first leg of my trip tomorrow ..
I made it to my destination.. almost 1100 miles... but the D is in the shop and the mechanics said 'oooh, that doesn't sound good..' it's missing, sputtering, and ticking like crazy.. but has good oil pressure. I took the valve covers off and no springs are broken..
This looks like it could be a very expensive trip.
