Default Strange RPM Issue?

Just got home from the farm, about a 30 minute drive on the highway, about a block away from home I noticed that the engine was revving a little too much. The truck didn't shift out of 1st gear right now. Pull into my parking stall at home, and put it in park, and the engine is revving to like 1500... Instead of 500rpm like normal.

Any ideas?

IAC or TPS, a dirty throttle body may aggravate the issue too

Yup... After driving it some more, I got P0123, bad TPS... Which is strange. Because I just replaced the TPS a month ago. I have the box, the receipt, and the old one sitting in my truck right now. I bought the replacement on July 7th. I was having some issues with cruise control, and somebody suggested replacing the TPS... That worked great. I suppose it's possible I just got a dud?

I did drive through 1 giant mud puddle on the way home... But that was at the start of my journey, it seems to me that if I had gotten something wet/dirty it would have started to malfunction right away... Not 30 minutes later?

if the seal is at 95% and the connector got wet i could see it taking some time for the water to drip into it and cause problems, but with were the TPS is located (on the TB) id say its more likely you got a dud sensor than you got it too wet

UPDATE:

I just went to the parts store where I purchased the sensor... They gave me another one free of charge (as you would expect, since it was only a month old) and I swapped it right there in the parking lot. It took all of 5 minutes. The old one did not look dirty or wet on the outside... And there's a gasket between the sensor and the engine... There was nothing wrong with the sensor internally, no signs of dirt or moisture. ANYWAYS - the truck is running great once again. Hopefully you don't see me making another post like this a month from now.

i hope you reset the PCM when you changed the sensor its alot important to get rid of the bad readings from that sensor which are in the PCM history.

Yes. I pulled the battery and let the computer reset itself while I replaced the sensor.

Everything has been fine.
