Ok. I know this is a dumb question, but my brother just bought a 2000 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 V6 and he said he would be able to CREAM me in a drag race against my 2000 Durango 5.9. Although I highly doubt it...What do you guys think? Would I be able to beat him or what?
with the 5.9 i would expect you to win, especially if you have the 3.92 gears and stock tires on it, i honestly havnt heard much good about the ford truck engines . . .
I don't necessarily agree. My dad has a 4.0 Explorer. I have a 5.9 D, 3.92, AWD. The Explorer is actually faster off the line. It may have to do with my AWD though. His is 2WD. However, I'm sure I would dominate his in a tug of war. Lol
While "what-ifs" are not my thing... he would stand no chance against my 5.9L. Every v6 Ranger I have ever been in is actually a dog at take off. Torque is good, but that's it.
With that said, racing is for the track only. Settle it at a local drag strip under proper conditions. Then whoop his ****.
Yea put it on a track and woop his ***. Make sure you do a home brew CIA and clean the TB before the race. Also give her a good 1/2 tank of Chevron 91+ octane fuel to run on.
I had a explorer 4.0 before the durango and no comparison, dodge hands down. When you race put in some octane boost with the 91. Also put some rpm's on it with the brake holding you to get a better take-off with AWD, never go into gear with built up rpm's it will do a lot of damage.
