check for corrosion inside any of the cables going to the battery, and also check the big (150amp iirc) fuse in the PDC under the hood.

sometimes on these trucks the wires corrode under the insulation and you cant see it from a visual inspection, put an ohm meter on and see if there is any resistance (wire needs to be disconnected from the circuit to do this)

what is the voltage across the battery posts when the engine is running? what about when its not running? what about when the key is off?

something very odd is going on and i know that PCM is supposed to control charging and while its the only thing left to check/change its an expensive part so i dont want to call it out as being the problem without being sure.

+1 Sharps we need the voltage read outs.

and i have a check gauge light on the dash
What codes are you getting?

2000 and newer directions:
Turn the key to ON (not start), OFF, ON, OFF, ON and leave it there. If you look in the odometer window the codes will flash any code(s) with a small delay between each result. Each code should be in a P#### format, and will say PDONE when completed - turn your key to OFF and remove. Use the OBD code list to determine what problem the computer detected
.

Damn!

Well is the volt meter reading 0 volts or really low? That would trigger the Check Gauges" light. But again we need the actual volt readings.

It sounds like a voltage regulator, which like you guys have said is in the pcm. Or could the pcm not getting a voltage signal, like a wire is broke, just spit-balling here.
