Cooling fan(s) questions

yup laz, you got it correct when the engine is cold, anything less than 1/2 a turn is normal, any more than that is worn out, and they lock up when the engine gets hot (its a viscous coupler so its a fluid in there iirc, but it still locks up)

#1 sharps...forgot the viscous part....This is exactly why you can't listen to most guys at the parts counter.He's advising people with what sounds good to him....

Heres a tip for those who are trying to remove fan. After trying the NAPA fan tool and not fitting I bought a pair of long handle 90 degree needle nose pliers and ground down the tips to fit holes snugly in the pulley. Use bailing wire to hold pliers shut and brace it against side and hit the wrench on fan nut with deadblow hammer. Forgot if its a reverse thread look for markings.

The Durangos are the opposite. They are not supposed to spin free. I was getting ready to change mine a while back because I thought it was stuck. I told a guy at Autozone about it he came out and looked at the fan and explained how they work different then the old ones. Then he said

On the reverse threading mentioned before,if they were regular threading the fan n clutch would spin off the pump right?? But,according to the FSM we have reverse fan rotation so that being the case the AutoZone guy was part right.They don't WORK in reverse, it's reverse rotation.Something to check if people have an overheat issue.If there's been a prior clutch change they may have the wrong clutch installed...the blades would be agled the right way but the viscous clutch would unwind (I'm pretty sure there's a fluid and winding in the clutches)
Someone add some input if I'm wrong or you know more

comes with everything,a/c relay, adj temp, brackets- I had friend weld me some that fit better. I run mine to the top a bit. I also have open grill like GMC that came with the Headlights, more air, no front plate to open up the air through the valance. 3300cfm.
