Default Front Compartment Blower Motor

I have a 2003 Durango with a 4.7L engine. Recently the air conditioning stopped blowing in the front, although the rear fan continued to work. I noted also that the heater doesn't blow. Conclusion: a fuse or relay has blown. I checked both. Since all of the relays in the engine compartment are the same I swapped them around. No change. I checked the fuse with a DVM and it was good. I swapped it around nonetheless with no change.

A couple of days later the blower began to work again. Odd. It worked for a couple of days and I had A/C, although the Durango has never been an icebox as I'd like at times.

I checked the fuse and relay again and no change. I pulled the fuse and measured voltage on the terminal. I seem to recall checking the relay points for voltage as well.

I was told that there is a resistor back on "the right side" that may be heating up causing the intermittent operation. OK. On the "right side" where?

Is there something else I should check? I love my Durango and it's paid for. But it's been nickle and dime time. My daughter has cancer and it's all on my basic mechanic skills. I'm an IT Admin by trade.

I think your resistor is behind the glove box.

Thanks. I'll check it when the sun comes up. Our summer is ending and I don't really need the A/C up at 6,300 feet. But the heater is sure nice when the snow begins to fall Not quite that cold yet.

Under the glove box or behind the glove box? I know it won't be labeled. "The resistor Bob is looking for..."

if you look up from the passenger side floorboard you cannot miss it it goes into the air vents, held in place by two torx bolts iirc

The fan comes on intermittently and doesn't seem to be blowing cold air. I am assuming more than just a resister pack that I still cannot find. Is the fan told not to come on if the A/C is discharged? Any other hints?

OK. I found a wiring harness that when wiggled causes the blower to work, although it isn't cold air. Is this the resistor pack that it is plugged into? The wires also get hot but not hot enough to melt.

That thing was a SOB to get out. The connector had overheated and melted itself together. Then the genuine MOPAR replacement part didn't come with instructions that left my brain hurting. I figured out that dang thing and will try to install it between thunderstorms tomorrow.

Even worse, I don't know that this will fix the problem. Although wiggling the wires initially caused the motor to blow. Warm air. I may need a recharge in time for winter snow to be a possibility. I live up at 6,500 feet in the mountains. Earliest snow as a few years ago. September 7th.

I have the same problem. I have replaced the resistor 3 times. Once got so hot connector melted and had to go to junk yard to get pig tail. Now the high speed stopped working. Wiggled wires and blows great but the connector is melting and smells!!! Any help here would be good. I don't want to replace the resistor again!!!
