Any info on putting a double DIN in my 01 Durango? The dash is the issue. I would also like to have the aftermarket radio interface with the steering wheel controls, is that a problem?

most aftermarket radios will NOT work with the steering wheel controls so if you want to keep that you will buy either a really expensive headunit or stick with stock

in order to fit a double din unit into these dashboards you WILL have to cut the dash and do quite a bit of custom work to make it fit.

IF you order from Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) you can get an after market control that lets you use your steering wheel controls. I did it with my 2003 and it works great. The whole process is quite easy with ready made wiring harnesses and clear directions. They have a toll free hotline to help with your install and you don't have to wait on hold to get to a technician. I would highly recommend this route to save time and headaches.

Cool, ballardde. That sounds like the way to go. Did your 03 have any issues with the double DIN? Did Crutchfield have a dash plate that works?

noone has a double din faceplate that you can just bolt in this is because the stock opening is 1.5 din

you MUST cut the dash to fit a double din unit in there.

Mine was not a double DIN. As mentioned you would have to do some cutting. I would call or "chat" on line with Crutchfield to see what they recommend.
