Default Over greasing?

Have any of you ever had problems with over-greasing a ball joint? Is it possible? I have greasable upper ball joints and as I grease them, the boot just keeps ballooning. Should I be concerned or just keep going until I see grease seep out? Can I over-grease?

Yes you can have a problem when over greasing. Because the may get on the brake rotors and smoke, or get all over the calipers and brake pads. You always just fill the boot with two or three pumps of the grease gun. That goes the same with lower ball joint too.

It can also hide the fact that the balljoints are getting a little loose. When i was young and dumb i worked at a shop that would do that. If the balljoints felt loose the boss would tell us to pump grease into them till the felt better.

Just make sure you don't get any grease near the brakes as previously mentioned, otherwise they are contaminated and junk.

Once you see the boot "balooning", you know grease went in and the fitting isn't clogged. Stop there.

I only put enough in that I see it expand and I know I put in enough to flush the bearing, about 2-3 pumps.

If you burst out of the rubber seal, you have added too much. If old school BJs already breached there, so be it. On those, add grease until it comes out again. Otherwise, top short of adding that much.
