Like Indy said, the dealer has already pre-bent brake to go across the front axle, all they have to do is buy the damn thing. That shop needs to do the right thing, and I would as well ask for a refund and go to somewhere else now that your informed.

What a day! First I took the Durango to a ASE certified mechanic, it is also a NC Inspection location. He said that he would of failed the inspection had it been there for that, based off of the brakes. He also said the line from front to back needs replacing due to corrosion. Then he started pointing out all of the reasons that this brake job is bad. Bottom line, park it until it gets fixed. The estimate is $1035.00 to undue all of the crap and fix it right, drop the tank to run the rear line, etc. Oh, that also includes fixing the leak between the transmission and the trans axle case. So, I drove my happy *** over to MAIN STREET TIRE, the original "mechanics" (yes, I am using that word loosely). When I went in, I asked for the manager and the guy said he was. I asked him to get the guy who worked one it, he was at lunch (conveniently) and I asked if he had a private place where we could talk where the other customers would not hear. He said the counter was fine. I guess he thought it would help to keep me nice, wrong. After telling him, in no uncertain terms how utterly disappointed I was in them for the crappy work and their lack of concern for my safety and that of other motorist, I asked them to kindly refund the portion of money I paid that was attributable to the brake lines only, the calipers are on and they are new and I don't want something for nothing. And guess what...the *** said NO. He said that I had to let them fix it and that "they would do it right this time". I swear that I wanted to go over the counter and slap the grin off of his face and maybe take an eyeball while I was at it. Excuse me, I am usually a nice person and I am use to dealing with jerks but he had it coming. So, in front of 4 customers, I proceeded to tell them that I would have it in the works to pull their inspection license and close their doors by the end of the day and damned if I haven't got a good start.

I filed a complaint with the NC Attorney Generals Office based off of the work and the fact that they did not give me an estimate prior to commencing on it. I did not know that NC has a statute that covers this, but they do. It is called the North Carolina Motor Vehicle Repair Act,and they are in violations of it both coming and going. And, I have a NC DMV Inspector that is ready to act on my behalf. And, I filed a report with the BBB, which won't really matter with Main Street's current D rating. Oh, that D represents their faulty brake job in 2010, go figure.

Back'in you up remotely!!!!!!

You are going to cause one hell of a issue now. Take copies of everything and write down everything that was said time and date from that asshat. Take pictures of the brake job at every angle and hold onto them. I too live in a small town and I know you don't want to **** off the locals, but any shop in their right mind knows a good job from a bad job, and I would even bet they have a shotty wrap sheet at the other local shops if you ask other shops.

I wouldn't worry about it because if anything goes, you have the truth and proof backing you up. No good shop is going to put their name on the line in a small town unless they are worthless to start. Also, take the D rating and all BBB reviews and print them off because that shows a trend and any judge is going to see that.

Yes sir Hydrashocker! Unfortunately for them, I am a retired private investigator and I have documented this from the get go. habit....

According to the AG's office, they have already handled complaints on this company and are eager to pursue this. The last ones were not resolved due to the companies failure to respond but, because of the prior cases, this one may warrant a full investigation.

I really don't cherish the thought of all the drama that will ensue, I actually prefer a quiet existence, but by golly they have gotten me angry and if they want to play a game, we'll play.

When I went for the second opinion today, I did not mention the original places name to avoid causing any conflicts. He actually said to me "I hope it wasn't Main Street" and so I told him that, as a matter of fact, it was. He said that he had sent a customers car there for an alignment after having done some front end work on the car. Two weeks later he said the customer returned because messed something up. Said it cost him a new front tire. However, he said he knows the owner and that he is a nice guy but is no longer involved with the day to day at the shop.

I will know more tomorrow after DMV gets with me.

Good for you! We all like to talk big, but what you did took a lot of courage. Keep us up to date as this progresses.

Awesome SheWolfe !!!!!!!!! I agree with you on the peaceful existance but there are times when people try to take advantage of that. I'm impressed. It's good that you know how to prepare for an event like this and follow through that way you have, people in you hometown will be safer for it,including yourself. You have to admit though...I bet it felt really good when the idiot gave you a green light to rip him a new one, especially in front of other customers when you asked for a private audience(he's really not too bright) {quote} "I love it when a plan comes together"....FINE JOB !!!!!!!
