Default Oil pressure issue

So starting the other day I stopped at a light going down a hill and my check gauges light came on and I had no oil pressure. It only happened for like 5 seconds. It continued to happen when I stopped on hills. Then it started happening whenever I decelerated. Now it's happening alot for no reason. I just drove home from work. A five minute drive. It had to of happened literally 20 times. The ringing is extremely annoying. I thought maybe my oil pressure sending unit was loose but its not. Any help would be great.

sounds like the sending unit is on its way out.

Have you checked the oil level? Stopping on a decline will send all the oil to the front of the pan and the pump is in the rear.

I'll bet it's just a low oil level. This happens to me every time the oil level is low and I exit a freeway after about 30 minutes of freeway speed and come to a stop. I thought it was a pretty cool feature to have incorporated - they drop the needle to 0 and ding the warning to make you look.

Yup it was the oil. I had almost none and what was there was really black and gunky. I just filled it up and I'm running some seafoam to get to get rid of all the gunk and then to a complete change next week sometime. Thanks for the help

That's not good, you should probably change your oil/check it more often. This is what my father would have done to me in this situation Oh well, glad we could help you out

I change my oil every 2500 miles. It's been 300 since my last change. My truck also sat for quite a while after the change ao I'm thinking that could be it

That will do it.....LOL

Funny that you where low on oil after only 300 miles, but either you didn't fill it all the way, you have a leak, or you have a blown plenum gasket. I would just keep a close eye on it and go from there.

I know I don't have a leak. I checked a few times and there would be a war in my house if I got oil in the driveway lol. How do I check for a blown plenum gasket?

Grab a flash light, take the air hat off and look straight down the throttle body into the intake manifold with the flash light. If you have oil pooled down in there then it's most likely blown, however if it is only slight oil vapor accumulation then it's ok. You can always take a picture if you are unsure.
